iCloud synchronization

Docket keeps a local copy and works offline. When available, private iCloud sync transfers records, saved Assistant conversations, note recovery versions, and selected preferences between your devices. Use the same Apple Account on each device; Docket does not require a separate account or provide a shared team database.

  1. Check that each device is signed in to the same Apple Account and has iCloud available for Docket.
  2. Open Docket Settings and review the synchronization status. Resolve any account, storage, or connection issue it reports.
  3. Connect both devices to the internet and allow time for background transfers. One completed operation does not guarantee that all changes have arrived.

Keep unsynced data safe. Export a backup before resetting or restoring to troubleshoot. Calendar events sync through their own provider; check the calendar account and permissions on each device if events are missing.

Assistant availability and saved conversations

Apple Intelligence features need a compatible device, enabled Apple Intelligence, and an available on-device model. Supported local summaries remain available when that model is unavailable. Assistant answers questions and provides summaries on request; it does not independently plan or carry out tasks, write records, create items, schedule events, or add members. Use Docket's regular views to make changes yourself.

Conversations are saved, can sync through private iCloud, and are included in exported backups. Use Clear Conversation in Assistant to delete saved messages. Turning Assistant off does not erase its history. Clearing messages does not delete the underlying records or calendar events discussed in the conversation.

Recover a note from Saved Versions

Open Saved Versions for a note on Mac, or Settings → Note Recovery Versions on iPhone or iPad. Choose an available snapshot and select Restore as New Note. Recovery creates a separate note rather than overwriting the current one.

Saved versions may remain after the original note is deleted. They can sync and appear in backups, so treat them as sensitive data. Available snapshots may not include every edit; keep separate backups for additional protection.

Export and restore a backup

On Mac, use Settings → Admin Center → Export Backup or Restore Backup. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, choose Prepare Backup, then Share Backup to save it. To restore, select Docket Backup as the import type and choose the JSON file. Review the replacement confirmation before continuing.

A backup can include member records, interviews, notes, preferences, saved Assistant conversations, other stored Assistant history, and recovery versions. Docket does not encrypt the JSON file. Choose a protected storage location and avoid sending backups by email.

Restore replaces current app records and can sync the replacement to other devices. Export a current backup first. An old backup can bring back previously deleted information. Sync is not a separate backup: deletions can sync too.

Delete your data and manage retained copies

Delete records in Directory, Interviews, or Notes. Use Clear Conversation for saved Assistant messages. Deleting a note can leave its recovery versions available.

For a full app reset, use Settings → Admin Center → Reset App Data on Mac. This removes app records, saved conversations, recovery versions, and Docket preferences, and clears other local Assistant history. With iCloud active, record deletions can propagate to your other devices. Export a backup first only if you intend to retain a copy.

Uninstalling the app is not a complete deletion process. Separately remove unwanted exported backups, source PDFs, shared files, and retained device or computer backups. Calendar events remain with their provider and need to be managed there. Review Docket data in Apple's iCloud storage settings when managing cloud copies; disconnecting iCloud alone does not establish that cloud data has been erased.

We cannot erase your private iCloud or device records remotely. For help identifying retained copies, contact support without attaching the sensitive data itself.

Contact support or ask a privacy question

Email support@docketapp.info. Include your Docket version, device model, operating system version, what you expected, and what happened. For sync issues, include the status message shown in Settings.

Please omit member names and private notes, redact screenshots, and do not attach backups or private conversations. Your email address and anything you send will be received to handle your request. Read the privacy policy for more about Docket's data handling.
